Comic strip

During an exchange semester at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Beijing, I was inspired to do this little comic strip, by watching the hard working chinese students. They complained a lot but cheered themselves up by saying things like 'You should always be like bamboo in the wind!' or 'Dont' worry - you can have a try!'.

I realised how hard it can be to discover a foreign culture without speaking the language AT ALL.

So I told myself that I should study more.

A man bites the tasty 'fruit of understanding'. As he gets choked by the fruits sticky content until his head explodes, he might realise that maybe he just tried too hard...

The chinese characters are the first verse from the first chapter of the 'Lunyu', written by Confucius. The meaning is 'To learn and to practise what is learned time and again is pleasure, is it not?' - YESSSSSSS, indeed.
